Yes he did it! Our fabulous foil captain Richard Barnes-Webb, bagged gold at the South East England Foil Championships ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ, winning overall gold in mens foil as well as veterans mens champion. Richard started his career as a fencer at school in his native South Africa ๐ฟ๐ฆ. Bored of cricket practice he began ‘stick sword fighting’ with a mate. He initially attended fencing club to get out of doing homework, but eventually reached county level, ultimately representing SA at multiple international events. All we can say is, cricketโs loss is fencingโs gain! Bravo ๐ Richard! We are super duper excited and proud! Thanks to Oksana Larsen for her magnificent coaching & Nick Payne for coaching Richard during the bouts!
