Ceri Thomas: “Fantastic second day at Liege. Rubin Nash, Tony Baston-Hall and I made up a House Of Sabre team. Won both of our poule matches to be top seeds going into the DE.
Beat a Canadian-American-Mexican team in the 8, then took out a tough Italian team in the semi, leading all the way.
Final was against a Finnish-Maltese combo. Bit to and fro, but some great fights from birthday boy Tony (thrashing the Finnish number one in the opening leg) and Rubin (closing out brilliantly against the same cat 1 fencer he beat in the individual final the day before). We won 45-39 to lift a gigantic shiny trophy and leave Belgium as very tired but very, very happy men.”
