Do I have to join while I am on a course?

While you are on a course you are covered by the course fees. We hope you decide to continue after the course and become a full member.

Can I get a discount as I may not be able to attend every week?

Membership gives you the right to attend any week on Mondays or Tuesdays and is not an attendance fee. Your membership payment ensures the club can meet its running costs even if you’re not able to come every week.

When can members fence?

Members can attend Monday evenings (junior sessions 6:30-8:00 PM, adult sessions 7:00-9:30 PM) and Tuesday evenings (junior sessions 6:30-7:30 PM, adult sessions 7:00-9:30 PM). The club fences every week of the year except Christmas and throughout school holidays.

Do I need insurance to fence at the club?

Yes, but that can be acquired through British Fencing. All members are required to join British Fencing for required insurance coverage. The club only provides insurance for course participants and officials, not members. New members receive 90 free introductory days with British Fencing membership, after which you can choose recreational or competition level membership. See this link: BF Introductory Membership to sign up to free 90-day introductory membership to BF which gives you the necessary insurance cover.
